The Regis School The best in everyone

Independent Thinking - Presentation by Dave Keeling

5.00 pm on Monday, 13 November 2017

We have arranged for Dave Keeling of Independent Thinking to come in to school on Monday, 13 November 2017 to run workshops for both Year 11 and Sixth Form students on Learning, Memory and Motivation.  Dave Keeling is an author of several books, including ‘Rocket up your class’ and co-author of ‘The Big Book of Independent Thinking’ and ‘Invisible Teaching’, and is an incredibly engaging speaker. Through these workshops we hope he will be able to give your child a number of memorable techniques that they can put to good use in their preparation for their mock examinations and their exams next summer.

We would also like to invite you to attend a session that Dave Keeling will run specifically for parents/carers at 5.00 pm on the same day on how to best support your child through their exams. You cannot do the work for your child, but what can you focus on to help and support them?  This will cover open communication and how the brain works – certain things you can be doing for both yourself and in supporting your child to revise.

We can guarantee that this will be an engaging session and we hope you will be able to take up what we feel is a great opportunity. As this is being offered to both Year 11 and Sixth Form parents/carers spaces will be limited and we ask if you could please email to confirm your attendance and seat numbers required to by Wednesday, 8 November.  As your child will have experienced a workshop earlier in the day it is not necessary for them to attend as this session is just for parents/carers.

We acknowledge that this date falls between the Year 11 and Sixth Form parents’ evenings but we are not in a position to offer the presentation during these evenings due to time constraints for appointments with your child’s teaching staff.

We look forward to hearing from you no later than 8 November and very much hope you will be able to join us at this event.
