Sixth Form Charity, Fundraising and Leadership Activites

Year 12 Charity and Fundraising Enrichment

Every year, students in Year 12 choose an enrichment club to join to build new skills and work on something away from their studies that could support with future applications. This year the Year 12 Charity and Enrichment club have worked together on two big charity fundraisers hoping to raise as much money as possible and experience the process of fundraising.

In September, we began work on a Hello Yellow. Hello Yellow is part of the charity Young Minds and works with young people in the Sussex area to support with mental health. The aim of Hello Yellow is to get everyone feeling a little brighter by adding splashes of colour to the school. This year the sixth formers dressed to impress in their best yellow costumes and attire. We had monkeys with bananas, minions and even a someone dressed up as a piece of cheese. It certainly made us smile and we think it brought a little joy to others around the school too. We also worked on a school cake sale with sixth formers in our class bringing the home made and shop bought cakes to sell for 50p each. This was a huge success with everyone working together! We were able to raise over £250 for Young Minds’ Hello Yellow campaign which we were really pleased with.

Following this, we were tasked with fundraising for Chestnut Tree House, a local charity that works to support children and young people who have life-limiting conditions. It was important to us that students around the school knew what they were giving money to and so we worked together on an informative PowerPoint about the charity that was shown during tutor time across all year groups. We have put plans together for a festive last day in which all staff and students are encouraged to come in non-uniform or even better wear a Christmas jumper or accessory. Each person has been asked to donate £1 to the cause so please dig deep and send your child in with £1 to donate to this wonderful cause. In addition to this, we have also planned the traditional Reindeer Row in which four rowing machines will be set up in the foyer on the morning of 19th December. Sixth formers have then volunteered to row continuously from 8.30am until 11am donning a wonderful pair of reindeer antlers (we know we’re going to look great!). Students can come and support us and donate their pennies if they wish to - every little helps! Once we have counted up the money raised we will let you know! In the meantime, thank you for supporting the charities and the Year 12 Charity and Fundraising enrichment club!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The Regis School Student Leadership Teams set ambitious goals for 2025-26

Last half term, The Regis School Student Leadership Team held its first meeting following an intensive training workshop the previous day.

The Leadership Training Day was designed to develop teamwork, communication and strategic thinking. The day began with a series of team-building activities, encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones and collaborate with peers.

Next came the much-anticipated Taskmaster Challenges, which tested creativity, problem-solving and quick thinking in a fun, competitive atmosphere. From quirky puzzles to hands-on tasks, students worked together to earn points and demonstrate their leadership potential.

The afternoon focused on Manifesto Action Planning, where students reflected on their strengths and values to shape their goals for the year ahead. Each team outlined practical ideas to improve school life and foster a stronger student community.

The day was a great success — full of energy, laughter and inspiration. The Sixth Form students showed real maturity and enthusiasm, setting a fantastic example for the rest of the school as they embark on their leadership journey.

Hannah, Student Governor, said: “It was interactive and a great opportunity to meet one another as a team. It gave us a chance to gain leadership skills and develop ideas for moving forward.”

One of the team’s aims is to improve the school experience for students. Head Students Shay and Betsie have worked with other members of the team to start to explore how they can enhance the learning environment at the school. Their first proposal is to install mini-whiteboards into the Sixth Form study area and the school’s hub to help students to revise independently.

Student well-being is another theme the team highlighted to improve, with head student Bawan overseeing this aspect of the plan. The main aim is to expand extra-curricular clubs, as well as to provide more mental health training so teachers can provide even better support.

The third strand the leadership team is focusing on is cultural awareness. The head students leading this sub-team are Isabelle, Melody and Marysia, and this section endeavours to promote diversity and inclusivity, through the introduction of a culture week and much more.

The team is now looking forward to putting their plans in place over the next term and beyond.
