AUTHOR VISITS

We have had many authors visit The Regis School over previous years, the most recent being award winning Anthony McGowan who visited us on World Book Day.

Anthony McGowan visited all of Year 7, 8 and 9 on Thursday 7th March 2019.  He is an award winning author and kept students enthralled with his mixture of gory and funny stories.  He was available for book signing, and we thoroughly enjoyed his visit.

Kathryn Evans author visit

Local author Kathryn Evans has written ‘More of me’, a book which has been nominated for numerous awards and has won the Edinburgh Book Festival prize for Best First Book.

She visited the Regis School on Friday 7th July 2017, and spoke to Year 9 students.  Her talk on resilience, grit and determination was inspiring, motivating students into believing they can do anything if they work hard enough.  She also got students excited about creativity with a fun engaging (paper plane throwing!!!) activity.  Many of our students bought her book and had it personally signed.

Some students were lucky enough to be chosen to attend a workshop run by Kathryn, featuring tips on creative writing, including working on ideas, plot and structure.  Tasks including pulling peculiar objects out of a bag (for inspiration), and also drawing pictures on paper, on your head!

Kathryn enjoyed her visit, and said “I was so impressed with the children, wonderful day!”

In the past we have also had Andy Briggs, Alex Wheatle, Gillian Cross, SF Said, Jasper Cooper, Victoria Campbell, Stephen Davis, Michael Coleman, Pete Johnson, Anna Dale, Sally Prue, Ali Sparkes, Alex Milway, Ellen Renner, Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick, Gareth P. Jones, Elen Caldecott, Harriet Goodwin and Kieran Larwood.
