SEND

The Regis School is an open and inclusive comprehensive school that aims to achieve the best for every student.

At The Regis School, we are committed to ensuring that all students,  are able to thrive, achieve and feel a strong sense of belonging within our school community.

We take a graduated approach to support, as outlined in the SEND Code of Practice, identifying and responding to need through the cycle of assess–plan–do–review. High-quality, adaptive teaching is the foundation of our provision and is designed to meet the needs of the vast majority of learners. Where additional support is required, this is carefully planned and delivered to remove barriers to learning and enable students to make strong progress.

All students are actively encouraged to participate fully in school life. Through appropriate and reasonable adjustments, we ensure equitable access to the curriculum, wider opportunities and enrichment activities, so that every young person can develop as a confident, independent learner and prepare for adulthood.

Further information about our approach to SEND, can be found in our SEND Information Report and SEND Policy, available on the Policies section of our website. Details of wider services and support available across the county can also be accessed via the West Sussex Local Offer.

We welcome applications from all pupils including those who may have additional or special educational needs.  We will conform to the Admissions Policy for our school which can be found on the Policies page of our website.

The Regis School also includes the Specialist Support Centre (SSC) which is a resourced provision for students with high needs Education Health Care Plans.

There are 10 places within the SSC across Years 7–11. Placements are allocated by West Sussex County Council in consultation with the school. Students in the SSC receive bespoke support tailored to their individual needs and outcomes, often informed by specialist professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists.
The SSC provides a structured, nurturing environment for students with a range of needs, including specific learning difficulties, communication and interaction needs, and ADHD. Students follow a personalised timetable, typically accessing a blend of SSC-based support alongside mainstream lessons, with additional support as required. Provision is regularly reviewed in partnership with parents, carers and professionals through the annual review process.

More information about placement to the SSC can be found here: Admission to Special Support Centres - West Sussex County Council
