The course will be delivered by three teachers over two years.
Each teacher will teach one discipline.
Assessment
Six papers: two Biology, two Chemistry and two Physics.
Each will assess different topics.
Duration: all the papers are 1 hour 15 minutes.
Tiers: Foundation and Higher.
Weighting: the papers are equally weighted. Each is worth 16.7% of the grade and has 70 marks.
Question types: multiple choice, structured, closed, short answer and open response.
This assessment model is very similar to the former GCSE apart from one key area; there is no longer any controlled assessment (ISA).
Instead students must carry out 16 compulsory experiments. 15% of marks in the written tests will be based on these experiments.
Grading: Students will receive 2 grades from 1-9 (9-9 being the highest grade 1-1 the lowest) these grades will be calculated on the combined score of all papers. Students between two grades (e.g. 9 and 8) will be awarded one of each (9-9, then 9-8, then 8-8) to ensure parity.
