Year 11 Enjoy Thought Provoking Road Safety Play

Year 11 students experienced an emotional performance from the Box Clever Theatre company this week. The energetic and hard hitting performance told the story of new driver Gary and his girlfriend  Sammy. A moments distraction and the fact that Sammy was not wearing a seatbelt meant Sammy’s life ended prematurely at just 18 years of age. The actors delivered the difficult message well, with humour, sadness and audience participation. One year 11 commented that the performance was really thought provoking and the entire audience agreed that such deaths were preventable. Mrs Saunders, Raising Standards Lead for Y11, said, ‘this is such an important message for Y11, some will already be passengers in older friends cars, whilst many will be taking their test next year. I hope the play will help them think about how to keep themselves and others safe’.
