What is the Pupil Premium grant?

The Pupil Premium grant is allocated to the school to address the issues associated with social disadvantage and support those students working below the expected levels for The Regis School. The aim of the funding is to narrow and eventually close any differences between their attainment and that of their peers. When making appropriate provision for these children we also acknowledge that not all students in receipt of Pupil Premium are educationally disadvantaged.

How is it the Pupil Premium grant utilised at The Regis School?

At the Regis School students eligible for Pupil Premium funding are identified and their progress and attainment are closely monitored throughout their time with us. Teaching staff and Curriculum teams work within each subject area to identify disadvantaged students that are at risk of underachieving and in addition to high quality teaching they ensure prompt support and intervention is put in place. In addition to this, our experienced Year teams and linked support staff meet regularly to discuss attainment, behaviour and attendance to ensure each disadvantaged student has the necessary support.

For 2026-27 the allocated pupil premium grant is approximately £429,566*

*there are often in-year variations in funding due to various CLA PEP arrangements/students leaving and joining during the school year.

Who is eligible for Free School Meals and Pupil Premium?

Free School Meals (FSM) and Pupil Premium

From September 2026, there are two categories of Free School Meals (FSM): Targeted FSM and Expanded FSM. Only pupils eligible for Targeted FSM attract Pupil Premium funding for the school. 

Targeted Free School Meals (FSM) and Pupil Premium

Your child may be eligible for both free school meals and Pupil Premium funding if your household receives one of the following:

• Universal Credit with annual household earnings of £7,400 or less
• Income Support
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
• Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
• The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit

Pupils eligible under these criteria are entitled to free school meals and attract additional Pupil Premium funding for the school. 

Expanded Free School Meals (FSM)

From September 2026, all children in households receiving Universal Credit are entitled to free school meals. 

Please note: Children eligible under the Expanded FSM scheme receive free school meals but do not attract Pupil Premium funding unless they also meet the Targeted FSM criteria listed above. 

Other Pupils Eligible for Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium funding is also available for:

• Children who are currently looked after by a local authority.
• Children who have been eligible for free school meals at any point during the last six years (FSM Ever 6).
• Children who were previously looked after by a local authority before being adopted, or who left care under a Special Guardianship Order or Child Arrangements Order. This includes children adopted from state care outside England and Wales.
• Service children whose parent is serving in the regular armed forces, has been recorded as a service child within the last six years, or whose parent died while serving in the armed forces and who receive a pension under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme or the War Pensions Scheme.
