Food Drive 2025

Our school and wider campus community has once again demonstrated remarkable generosity and compassion by donating an incredible 1,418.5 kg of food to UK Harvest - the food rescue and education charity. This outstanding achievement reflects the kindness, empathy, and commitment to helping others that our students, families, staff and wider campus community continue to show. The Arena, Southway, Stepping Stones and The Regis School all took part.

A huge congratulations goes to Year 7, who were this year’s winning year group with an impressive 352.6 kg of donations. Your enthusiasm and teamwork truly stood out!

We would also like to give a special mention to Miss Pellegrino and 10H, who collected a fantastic 107.6 kg on their own - an amazing effort from a single tutor group.

To celebrate our contribution, five Rights Respecting Ambassadors, accompanied by the four Year 6 Team Captains from Southway Primary, had the opportunity to follow the UK Harvest vans to their facilities in Itchenor. There, they received a warm and friendly welcome from Sian (the Education Facilitator) and her colleagues, who generously took the time to show the pupils around.

The students were given a fascinating behind-the-scenes tour, visiting the industrial refrigerator and freezer, the brand-new sorting room, and the store containing all the non-perishable donations. It was an eye-opening experience that helped them understand the incredible work UK Harvest does to support families and reduce food waste across the region.

RRS Ambassador Bethany said, “The UK food harvest was empowering, knowing that we were helping people.” Indeed, all the pupils on the trip echoed this and the whole experience of collecting, sorting and moving the food before it left site.

Mrs Saunders, Assistant Principal, said, “we are doing more and more collaborative acts of service across the school campus, as part of our ‘cradle to career’ work. These opportunities give young people from Stepping Stones, through to TRS Sixth Form the opportunity to work together to do something good for our community.”

Sian, from UK Harvest shared the following thank you message “Thank you all for making the effort and putting in considerable amounts of time and energy to support the Food Drive 2025. Your donations will make a massive contribution to supporting our local communities through the Winter months and we are extremely grateful.”

Thank you to everyone who contributed. Together, we have made a real difference.
