SMILES ALL ROUND AT THE REGIS SCHOOL FOR GCSE DAY

Students and staff at The Regis School are celebrating again today as GCSE qualifications are awarded across the country.

This year, 70% of Year 11 students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths, with 53% achieving grade 5 or above in the two subjects.

The Regis School students celebrating particular successes today include:

  • Katie Lindsey, who achieved straight grade 9s in all her subjects. This included English Language, English Literature, Maths, French, Geography, History, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

  • Anna Leahy, who achieved grade 9s in English Literature, Maths, French, Geography, History and double Science, as well as a grade 8 in English Language.

  • Mia Carter, who achieved grade 9s in English Language, Geography, Maths, Religious Education, Science and Sociology, as well as a grade 8 in English Literature.

  • Charlie Holdsworth, who achieved grade 9s in English Language, English Literature, History, Maths and Physics along with grade 8s in Computer Science and Chemistry.

  • Ollie Parker, who achieved grade 9s in History, Maths, Chemistry and Physics, as well as grade 8s in English Language, Design Technology, Geography and Biology.

Anna, Mia, Charlie and Ollie are among those students who will soon be returning to The Regis School’s Sixth Form to study at A Level. The Sixth Form celebrated its own successes last week, as students achieved high grades at A Level and vocational qualifications.

Across the whole 2022 Year 13 cohort, 50% of all entries achieved an A*/A or equivalent grade. This enabled students to secure a range of high-quality university places, including to the Russell Group’s University of Leeds, University of Warwick and University of Southampton.

Commenting on students’ GCSE achievements, Dave Oakes, Principal at The Regis School, said:

“All our Year 11s can take great pride in their results today, as the culmination of several years’ hard work and focus. Across The Regis School, we seek to instill in our pupils the values of ambition, determination and confidence and these GCSE outcomes prove what can be achieved, even amidst a challenging few years due to the pandemic.

“At every stage, staff have been an invaluable support for our young people and deserve recognition for their efforts in the classroom and beyond. I know they and everyone associated with the school will want to join me in congratulating students this morning, many of whom we look forward to welcoming back for their A Level studies this September.”
