READING CLOUD AND ACCELERATED READER
The Reading Cloud is a fantastic online reading community. It is a website that can be accessed from anywhere with internet connectivity. Students and staff can access the library catalogue to see what we have in stock, check your school library account and much more including writing reviews, blogs, and adding video reviews. It will also give you ideas of what to read next, and has links to author videos. You can ‘like’ books and build up your own reading lists. You can even make up your own home library! The Reading Cloud includes many reading lists and recommended books.
To login to your account, your username is your school email address e.g. John.Brown@theregisschool.co.uk Your password is ‘book’ to begin with. We suggest you then change this (this can be done on your profile page). You need to select ‘The Regis’ under school.
The link to the Reading Cloud is on the main library homepage. Or search for ‘Reading Cloud’ on Google.
Year 7 and 8 take part in the Accelerated Reader programme. Students sit an online reading test which gives us an idea of their reading level. Students then read books at their level, and then take quizzes on the book once they’ve finished. This leads to prizes and rewards, and ‘millionaire’ badges according to how many words they’ve read.
Students can log into their account from the link on the main library homepage. The username is their usual school computer username, and password is ‘book’. Parents/carers can also see how their child is doing by logging in on the Accelerated Reader home connect page. The link is available on the library homepage.
