Phoenix Youth Centre

Background

The Regis School has taken on a lease for The Phoenix Centre from West Sussex County Council with a vision to enhance both campus and community life. The school has committed to a cradle to career model, focusing on how the campus can support the wider Bognor Regis community while providing high-quality opportunities for its pupils.

This holistic approach begins with Stepping Stones Nursery, extends to Southway Primary School, and continues through to The Regis School, serving children from infancy through their teenage years. The Phoenix Centre plays a key role in this effort, acting as a neutral, welcoming space to support these educational institutions and the local community.

Through this partnership, we aim to foster connections between education and community, ensuring residents of all ages have access to resources and opportunities for growth and development.

Mission

The Phoenix Centre’s mission is to make a great community asset by building on the strengths and voices of our residents.

To achieve this, the centre has been transformed into a state-of-the-art community hub, shaped by ongoing consultation with local youth and community members. By listening to and valuing the contributions of everyone, the centre reflects the needs and aspirations of the community.

Strong partnerships with local organizations have been fostered to maximise the positive impact on our community. The comprehensive programme of activities is designed to reach and benefit as many people as possible, from mental health support for children to groups that provide social connection opportunities for elderly residents. Whilst also bridging the gap between school and home with parental support groups, ensuring every family feels connected and empowered.

The centre’s goal is to create a welcoming, inclusive space where all members of the community can thrive, feel valued, and contribute to the collective growth of the community.

Vision

The Phoenix Centre believes in the power and potential of our community. As an inclusive, eco-friendly space located alongside The Regis School in Bognor Regis, our purpose is to bring people together to unlock and build on the strengths within our community.

Community is at the core of everything we do. Our spacious centre is designed to empower local groups and individuals by offering a welcoming environment where people can connect, share skills, and grow. We focus on nurturing the talents, passions, and resources of our community members, ensuring that everyone can contribute and benefit.

Our vision is to improve the overall well-being of residents by removing barriers and creating opportunities, especially for those who are most vulnerable. We are particularly committed to supporting young people beyond school hours, providing them with enriching activities that help them thrive. We also aim to create a supportive space for families, helping them feel more confident in engaging with education and local services.

By listening closely to the needs of our community and collaborating with its members, we aim to co-create a dynamic programme of activities that builds on local strengths and promotes shared growth. Together, we will continue to cultivate a thriving, resilient community.
