Memorable Moments 2019

Some Memorable Moments Activities from the end of last term

Memorable  Moments 2019 Lodge Hill .

Our memorable moments trip was to the beautiful Lodge Hill Activity Centre situated on the South Downs just south of Pulborough. I and 12 other students went with Kev and Mrs Saunders for a 2 day residential. Our accommodation was two lodges settled in the woods on the estate.

We arrived just after 10 and went straight down to our lodges to settle in. The two lodges are surrounded by trees, it was so quiet and peaceful.

The idea of the two days is to provide memorable moments, they certainly did. Here are a few.

FOOD. In teams we had to design our own menus, one team doing dinner another doing breakfast and the final team doing a picnic lunch for the way home. Then off to Tesco's to buy the food. Its difficult to know how much to buy for 15 people and all Kev kept saying is. “It will work out alright just don’t overspend your budget”. We managed to achieve being underbudget on all 3 meals even if it was only by pence.

The rest of the day was spent getting to know each other and developing our confidence. Some how making an egg parachute out of a tree, after having to walk find the tree using only photos, makes you feel good. Seeing how others dealt with the same task just felt like we belonged. It then got even stranger with Mrs Saunders Bubbly snake challenge. We were so competitive and brilliant fun watching others standing on benches and chairs to get as high as possible, I think the longest must have been about 10 ft long.

After dinner we drove up to the top of the downs and walked to a vantage point where we spent some time really peacefully and respectfully watching the sunset. Its an amazing thing to do on a warm evening to see the sun set below the horizon and just be, the colours are incredible and a photo really doesn’t do it justice.

Then back to camp and manhunt /spotlight in the dark , pretty scary but brilliant fun. A good nighta sleep then the breakfast crew up early for a slap up breakfast, lunch crew prepared the picnic and everyone tidied the lodges. Final activity was a walk around Swanbourne lake feeding the ducks and eating ice-cream.

Thanks to all the students and Kev and Mrs Saunders for making it truly a memorable 24 hours.
